• Go to the  German Web Site:http://www.imb-jena.de/IMAGE.html
Go to PDB to search for the protiens

The teacher will assign a numbered protein to you.

    1. Find your protein.

    2. Print out an image in color of your protein's 3-D structure.

    3. Also, Print out the amino acid sequence for your protein. There is a link "sequences, etc."on most entries.  LOOK AROUND on the web site.

    4. How many amino acids are in the polypeptide chain?

    5. Name the first four amino acids in the chain.

    6. Describe the function of your protein.  If it is not available, please infer the function from the available information. ( Infer from the name of the protein...LOOK AROUND on the Web Site.)

    7. Is the protein a molecule in humans or some other organism? ( Name the organism if not human.)

    8. Describe the three - dimensional structure of the protein.  Is the final protien a primary, secondary, tertiary, or quarternary structure?
