As High School counselors, we work closely with students and their families, addressing academic, career, social and emotional issues. Our profession is built upon the ideal of the dignity, worth and independence of each student. The ultimate goal of all high school counselors is firmly based on the human worth of the individual. Our goal at Wilson High School is to use our training to help each student become self-aware and responsible for his/her decisions, actions and future; to help each student confront and resolve the problems and issues that might limit growth; and to help each student realize his/her unique potential. Our work is defined by three Cs: we Counsel students; we Consult with parents, teachers and administrators; we Coordinate educational programs and referrals to other sources of help. We want to encourage students and parents to contact us – in person or by phone – with problems and concerns; we want to provide support, help and, when indicated, appropriate referrals for our students and their families.
