What is Teacher of the Week?

Teacher of the week is a third grade version of "show-and-tell." Our goal is to assist students in gaining and practicing speech and public speaking skills while having fun with their classmates. Each student will be assigned a date when they are required to be our “Teacher of the Week.”

What do students need to do?

Each student will select a natural feature of North America and teach us about it.  This topic will need to be approved by Mrs. Weiss.  In order to prepare for the presentations, families are encouraged to help and support their child with preparation. Students are encouraged to utilize technology for their presentation such as PowerPoint or Google slide, a word document to project, a website, and/or a video clip.  Presenters are also encouraged to include the class in their presentation through an activity, discussion, or Question/Answer session.  Have fun with this! Keep in mind the maximum time is 30 minutes and your classmates will want to ask you some questions, so please make sure you leave time for that.  Parents are welcome to attend!

    How is this relevant?

Each student will be scored as they meet the requirements of the rubric.  You can find a link to the rubric below.  This presentation meets many of the Common Core academic standards and is a great opportunity for our third graders.
