• SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT

    The goal of Wilson School District’s Social Studies Department is to prepare students to be informed, productive, responsible, and conscientious citizens in our democratic society and interdependent global community.  By mastering a comprehensive, standards-based curriculum rooted in the study of the geographical, historical, social, cultural, political, and economic forces that have shaped our nation and world, students will acquire the knowledge necessary to understand current domestic and international conditions and events.  This knowledge-base combined with our commitment to help students develop and apply effective thinking and social skills, to foster democratic values, and to encourage civic participation will provide a foundation from which our students will grow and mature into the larger global society.

    Middle School Requirements

    All students are required to take three years of Social Studies courses in grades 6 - 8.
     
    High School Graduation Requirements
    All students are required to complete four credits of Social Studies courses in grades 9 - 12.
