Staff/Faculty Resources
The Student Assistance Program can be a great resource for teachers who are concerned about a student or are struggling with a student's behavior. The Student Assistance Teams will collect data from other teachers who have the student, to see if anyone else is struggling with the same issues, or has the same concerns. The team will also contact the parents and inform them of the concerns, and offer resources which will hopefully assist in removing barriers to the student's learning. Listed below are several behavior signs of an adolescent who may be struggling with issues:Drop in Grades Isolating SelfFailure to Complete Assignments Talking about Drug or Alcohol UseDecrease in Class Participation Drawings related to Drug or Alcohol UseShort Attention Span DisorientedAbsenteeism/Tardiness Issues with PeersConstantly Late for Class Deteriorating Personal AppearanceFrequent Visits to the Nurse Sleeping in ClassDefiance of Rules Smell of Alcohol or MarijuanaEmotional Outbursts Bloodshot EyesVerbal Abuse Frequent Complaints of NauseaBlaming, Denying Slurred SpeechChange in Friends VandalismErratic Behavior Involvement in TheftsCarrying a Weapon Legal ProblemsPlease refer to the Student Assistance Program if you are concerned about a student or notice these behaviors in a student. We all want students to be successful in and outside of school, in all areas of their lives. Mental Health issues, drug abuse, family problems, and social issues often prevent students from focusing on their academics. We want to address these issues so they can be successful and productive at Wilson!!!!If you would like other resources related to issues adolescents struggle with, please check out the websites and agencies listed under Resources for Parents and Resources for Students. I will also put links on this page as well, regarding different topics that are relevant to our students.Referral and Observation FormsSelect the form desired.
